Keynote Speaker
DR. JOHN SEAGO
John Seago, MA, DBE is a published Bioethicist and serves as the President for Texas Right to Life, the oldest and largest statewide Pro-Life organization in Texas. For 11 years, Dr. Seago led the research, writing, and lobbying for state Pro-Life and medical ethics policies in the Texas State Legislature. He graduated with a double major in Philosophy and Biblical Studies from Southeastern College Wake Forest, North Carolina. He studied philosophy at the University of Dallas and received a Master’s in Bioethics from Trinity International University. He received his Doctorate in Bioethics and Health Policy from Loyola University Chicago. He lives in Austin, Texas with his wife and two children.

THE NEED IS URGENT
Planned Parenthood’s most recent annual report shows that it performed 434,450 abortions during the 2023–2024 reporting period, a record high and an increase of more than 32,000 abortions (8%) from the previous year. This equates to approximately 1,190 abortions every day. At the same time, reports continue to show comparatively small numbers of prenatal services and adoption referrals, highlighting the ongoing need for organizations that provide life-affirming support, practical resources, and compassionate care to women facing unexpected pregnancies.
Nationally, chemical (medication) abortions now account for approximately 63% of all abortions in the United States, up significantly from 53% in 2020. The growth of telehealth services and mail-order abortion pills has contributed to this increase, making abortion more accessible even in states with restrictions.
Broader national data show that abortion numbers have remained high in the years following the Dobbs decision, with increasing reliance on telehealth and medication abortion. These trends reinforce the importance of accessible, community-based pregnancy help organizations like LifeTalk that provide women and families with free education, compassionate support, material assistance, and alternatives to abortion during some of life's most challenging moments.
